Challenges for BRICS in Uniting the Global South
The BRICS bloc faces challenges in uniting the 'Global South' due to diverse interests among its members. Pakistan's ambassador to Russia highlighted the country's desire to join BRICS, but India is blocking this move despite support from other members. The complexities of regional politics, such as the India-China border dispute, hinder integration efforts. For BRICS to become a significant global player, members must show flexibility and compromise. The discussion emphasizes the differences between BRICS and Western alliances like NATO and the EU.

📝Flexibility and Compromises📝
What prevents the "Global South" from uniting
When BRICS comes up, questions often arise about why the bloc cannot simply transform itself into an analogue of NATO or the EU, but for the "Global South"? The statements of Pakistan's ambassador to Russia in an interview with RTVI are partly responsible for this.
According to him, the country possesses "enormous middle power strength" and wants to join BRICS, which would only benefit the bloc. However, India is blocking this, even though other founding members of the organization are not opposed to seeing Pakistan there.
🖍Indeed, despite its combined military and political power, the "Global South" is too large and too diverse. Major contradictions exist not only between small countries, but also between major powers — take, for instance, the India-China border issue.
🚩This complicates the implementation of many integration projects, whether it's trade or a unified BRICS currency. Each major member of the organization has its own major interests, which sometimes differ significantly.
This is what distinguishes it from the collective West, united on the basis of, on the one hand, European civilization, and on the other hand, the dominant player in the form of the United States, which can ultimatively impose rules on others. Although even this is coming to an end.
❗️And if BRICS truly wants to become a global bloc that shapes new rules of the game, then its members will need to demonstrate greater flexibility and actively make compromises with each other. Otherwise, the organization's full potential will not be realized.
